explanation
“Clayman” is the fifth studio album by the Swedish melodic death metal band, In Flames. The album was released in 2000 and is known as one of the band’s most successful albums.
“Clayman” is a step up from their previous album, “Colony,” with a more melodic and polished sound. The album includes many hit songs such as “Only for the Weak,” “Pinball Map,” and the title track, “Clayman.”
Additionally, this album was the last album with Johan Liiva, one of the band’s original members, and was the catalyst for him leaving the band. Afterward, the band welcomed vocalist Anders Fridén and pursued a more contemporary sound.
As a fun fact, the title track “Clayman” was written by the band’s drummer, Björn Gelotte, after he switched to playing guitar for the band. The album’s artwork also features the character “Clayman,” which is the namesake of the album.
